Bash Family Portraits

I really enjoyed this studio portrait session. I have known the Bash Family for years. Bill is my best friend and we have been friends since high school. It's always great to spend time with Bill and his family.

2010 in Review

Hard to believe another year has passed. Doesn't it seem like yesterday everyone was making a big thing about the millennium? I do hope that everyone had a good year in 2010. This year was quite challenging for many.

As for myself, I also had many challenges this year. I resigned from my job of 18 years to pursue photography full time and to also return to school. It's been a challenge not having a permanent income and expanding my business. But I thank the Lord for providing and blessing me with then opportunity to do what I love, and that is photography. Not many get the opportunity to pursue their dream and I do.

This past year I have expanded to portrait photography. I love portrait photography and getting the opportunity to talk to my clients. I have met some wonderful people as a photographer. It's a joy to get to know my clients and establish relationships with them .

As MannyG Photography grows, I continue to add more items. I not only have prints to offer. But also senior announcement cards, Christmas cards, leather 8x10 books and albums. The cards, albums and books all allow your images to be printed on them. In addition, I also make gallery wraps, fine art metals, fine art canvas and many more specialty items. If you want it, I can make it!

Tomorrow is the first day of 2011. I'm excited about what the year has in store for myself and MannyG Photography. Without a doubt I expect great thing's to happen. Some might require change, some might require fear. But I put my faith in God to help me through these times.

I don't remember who said this or where I got it from. But I try to live by this, "Do not give up. If you do, you will never know how close you were to succeeding."

I wish everyone a safe and Happy New Year. I thank each and every one of you for supporting MannyG Photography.

Thank You,
Manny Guerrero

Pearland Oilers and High School Playoffs Football

This weekend I'm in Dallas, Texas for the UIL State Championship Class 5A Division 1. The two schools competing in this game are the Pearland Oilers and Euless Trinity. Trinity is the defending state champion and they will also be playing in their backyard. However, I do expect a huge Oilers following at the game to cheer and support the Oilers.

I arrived yesterday morning at the hotel and have noticed how the parking lot is filling up. Many people following their school in the playoffs. As I went for breakfast this morning it was nice to see a SUV parked next to mine with window painting supporting the Oilers and Coach Norman. Needless to say, I'm very excited about the game tonight. This weekend is the Super Bowl of High School football.

Pearland Oilers will be competing against Euless Trinity. Thrinity is the defending Class 5A Division1 State Champions and presently ranked #1 in the USA. However, they can be beat! I'm not bias because I'm the Oilers team photographer, but any team is capable of being beat. The playoffs are totally different than the regular season. During the regular season Trinity's average margin of victory was 35 points, during the playoffs it has been lest than 7. Pearland averages 45 points per game and has won every playoff game, except the Katy game, by a margin of at least 28 points. But, it doesn't matter by how many you win by, as long as you have one more point than the opponent.

I expect a great game tonight with Pearland winning. The Oilers are too balanced of a team. The Trinity Trojans have a weak pass defense and don't play balanced teams very well. Regardless of which school wins, the coaches, players, fans and schools have to be proud of themselves. This is quite an accomplishment to be playing in the State Championship.

Sports Photography Tips

Do you like photographing your children in their sporting events? As the cost of SLR camera's decline, many parents are purchasing them and photographing their childrens sporting events. There are many options to choose from when deciding on what gear is needed. To photograph in daytime a 70-300mm 4.5-5.6 aperture lens would be best. The cost for a lens like this varies from $175 to around $1000. Like everything else, you get what you pay for. The difference is what the lens body is made of, type of glass and whether it has an ultra sonic motor for faster focus. When photographing at night or indoors a 70-200mm 2.8 aperture is a must. This type of lens will get close shots in volleyball and basketball. It is also great to use when photographing portraits.

When choosing a camera, choose one that has the capability to shoot many frames per second. Also, consider one that has a high ISO to allow faster speed and more light to your images.

These are only a few tips to consider when photographing sports. Hope that I was of help.
